Pumpkins Out, Santas In.

Painting Santas and Snowmen is therapeutic.  It puts you right in the holiday spirit.

Quality Santa.  11x14.  watercolour.
This one is pretty straightforward, just a nice little portrait.

This Santa's been out in the cold to long.

Chapstick Santa.  11x14. Watercolour.

This one, he's just skating along somewhere up North.

Freeform Skater Clause.  11x14.  Watercolour.

This Santa has a certain strut.
Mr. StripeyPants Santa Goes To Town.  11x14.  Watercolour.

This happened back in the beginning of time at the NorthPole...
The Creation of Clause.  11x14.  Watercolour.

Then I started painting somewhat-abstract Snowmen.  I say somewhat-abstract because this is my most abstractest work ever but its still not there. Yet.
Snowman Skier.  8x10.  Watercolour on Panel.

Somehow a monster was unleashed, a abstracting monster.

CrossCountry Snowman.  8x10.  Watercolour on Panel.

This one is a woman.
Childlike Snowman.  8x10.  Watercolour on Panel.

I realize that they're not really abstract. But they're waaay more abstract than my usual work.

Snowman Emerging.  8x10.  Watercolour on panel.

This one just sat down.
Sitting Snowman.  8x10.  Watercolour on Panel.

This one, he's pondering the crack.
Snowman Pondering a Crack.  8x10.  Watercolour on Panel.

The Holiday Shoppe at Starbrick Gallery is full of Christmas.

Luscious colour.

It was kind of a whacky idea...

but we displayed these in, of all things,

an antique baby carriage.
Its really fun to push around.  It kind of bobs up and down and up and down so any baby would be immediately lulled to sleep.

This one, not so abstract.
Daisy Snowman.  Watercolour on Illustration Board.

Antique baby  carriage full o' art.

I love this display.  They're little Santa Faces Christmas Ornaments, encaustic on wood.

I've been wearing these a lot while painting all this Christmassy stuff, they make me feel like an Elf.

Works in progress.  These are watercolour and encaustic on a Capiz shell.

This is a Christmas Past.  I was playing Barbies with my own barbie-esque hairdo.

This "batch" lacked the abstract magic of the first batch.
Beach Umbrella Snowman.  8x10.  Watercolour on Panel.

This one is juggling the entire universe, just like every mother does in December.
'It Came Without Tags' Snowman.  8x10 watercolour on Panel.

This Santa is strolling around in the Arctic.
Santa with Toboggan.  8x10 Watercolour on Panel.

It was time to switch things up.
Bird And A City.  8x10.  Watercolour on Panel.
All this Holiday made me thirsty.
And I got a case of Label Love to boot.

I knew it was official when I spied this on a piano.

And now I'm seeing an epidemic.  Knitted Smucker holders!!  What will they come up with next!!?!

Speaking of Christmas Miracles, I thought I'd repost this Miraculous Event.
The little guy was fine, just exhausted.  He got inside and forgot how to get outside so he wore himself out trying.  He sat on my brother's hand for a brief respite then he flew off lickety split.

Alas, its time to say goodbye to the Pumpkins and to you too.

Dipping my baby toe in the abstract pond was thrilling.  I'm not sure that it looked all that abstract to you, but to me it was a step in the abstract direction.   Next I believe I'll try an Arctic Atmosphere painting.  I'll let you all know how that goes.
