Rabbit Rabbit.

Did you remember to say it?  Its so hard.  I mean, I don't know about you, but I'm groggy first thing waking up and its easy to forget.
trying to capture some soulfulness.

these take all his "cuteness" away real quicklike.

If you forgot, do not despair.  There's always "TibberTibber" tonight Lovelies.

Finished Pet Collage.

Making a Pet Collage isn't my favorite art form, I much prefer painting.  In fact, the beginning is a bit terrifying and then when you get going the "what-the-h-e-double-toothpicks-IS-this-thing" feeling sets in.  It looks like madness and you have to wonder if its even worth continuing on.  A miserable feeling, really.  But continue on, trust the process.  Work from background to foreground.  The magic happens when you get to the eyes.  Once said pet has eyes he comes to life and the whole process it totally worth it.  You find yourself falling in love--even if it wasn't even your pet!  This fine pooch is Holly, and I just know she was one fine companion, just the best.  (I could tell all this by creating her portrait:-)  So even though its not my favorite process to DO, its totally worthy and I highly recommend making them all the time.  Hey, whatever keeps us off the streets, right?

Anthropologie Catalogs work beautifully for Pet Collages.
Apologies for the hideous glare, I snapped these last-minute "out back" in the Jeep before delivering them to Holly's parents.  Hey, at least I remembered to take a picture this time.  A lot of my art goes out into this world with me totally forgetting to document it with a little tiny picture and then I'm sad because its so quickly forgotten.  So as of right now I'm not going to let that happen anymore.

A Pet Collage.

I wanted to share with you what I'm working on this afternoon...a pet collage.  Its not my pet, but I sort of feel like she is now because of the phenomenon that happens when creating a portrait, any type of portrait--- it always makes you feel so intimate with the subject.
If you ever make one of these collages, just know, Anthropologie catalogs work real well.  There's so much texture in their photographs.  They're my favorites to rip up, sorry Anthro, but they're just that good.
I'll post the finished piece very very soon.

My Own Personal Nirvana.

It seemed to take forever for this piece to speak up and tell me what to do. I waited and stared and stared and waited, got impatient then mad. When all else failed I said a little prayer.  It's so exciting when it all comes together. Am I the only one who feels this way?  Surely not.  ?  I mean, I sort of want to hug it and kiss it and dance around the room then roll around with it some too.  Jeeeez, its not like I made a MonaLisa or anything, but this thing right here right now came together for me and I was quite quite pleased.  Personal Nirvana achieved today.
Now, bedtime for me and I just might take this with, except that would be weird.   Sleep well Lovely People.

Painting Ellie.

Works in progress.  Its been lovely outside on the porch, and I feel like I have room out there to let the paint fly when needed-a very luxurious feeling after being cooped up inside all winter.   This is a close up of Ellie's Eye.

Another Ellie.  You can never paint too many, or so they say.  Right?  This is a collaboration with JAH. When I get ahold of one of her backgrounds its like identifying the shape in the clouds.  Such a fun game.  This piece is unfinished...
Collaboration, still in progress.  Jessica Held and tereSager.
Collaboration Detail.  Rump and a tail-like ornament.  Jessica's backgrounds are just luscious and I have to be brave to go in.  I almost need a shot of tequila first.
