The Plant Shelf on a Summer Day.

They all looked so happy so I took some pictures to share...
I actually bought this square pot. I bought it tuesday at the Goodwill Store for 50cents.  It may have even been 25 cents.
It made me happy.  Fifty cents worth of happiness.
And, I also got this cabbage mug along with it.  I guess you could say I went on an actual shopping spree.
No new pot for this guy but he's just fine with that.
Same here.
I love it so much I can't stop taking its picture.
So...after doing that thing you do to avoid the canvas for a good part of the day I finally went into the studio.  You know, that thing you do where you find yourself crossing things off your to-do list that have been on it for months just to avoid the canvas.  I have actually found myself doing things like cleaning the grout on my farmhouse tile table to avoid the canvas.  Things like cleaning under the bathroom sink.  Who even does that??!?  But not today, today I  procrastinated by photographing the plant shelf on the front porch and it didn't take long, so I got some painting done.  I played with wax for hours and it.was.splendid.
Which means, tomorrow morning I get to get up, pour my coffee, and take the encaustic's out of the beer fridge and buff them with pantyhose, yay!  It is so insane that the mere thought of doing this makes me want to jump into bed like a child on Christmas Eve and hurry up and fall asleep so it'll be morning soon.

This little guy had to go live in the oat scoop because he kept bending over.  I have a side porch and a back porch, both full of plants, so there's plenty of procrastinating opportunities for me tomorrow.  Why is it so difficult to start?  Making art is such a joy, what's with that???

Buffing With Pantyhose.

Yesterday I gave this half-finished little house some love.  I went back in and added some colour and a few lines, simple changes.  But the most important thing I did was buff it with pantyhose.  There's nothing like a good buffing with pantyhose.  That is a hilarious sentence out-of-context.  It makes me giggle like a 12-year-old boy laughs at the word butt.
It kept getting shinier and dreamier and dreamier and shinier.  I fell in love with it.  And, I fell in love with the process of buffing.  I am proud to say that I love buffing.
I could buff all day.
It keeps getting better.
Buffing with Pantyhose.  Its a blast.

Let The Music Be Your Master.

encaustic painting on bookcover by tereSager.
A small encaustic painting on a bookcover.  I love me a bookcover surface.  That torn blob on the right was part of the book's spine and made the perfect "tab".  Positively file-folderish.

Who's the master, the music or the wax?  Tough decision.

Little Fish Brewery. Happy Hour.

They're open, yay!
Pretty view.  Pretty sky.  The actual brewery/bar kind of looks like a warehouse.  Ok, if Three Bars had a Baby, the CiderHouse, a Warehouse, and a little dirt-floored bar I went to on Andros Island, it would be Little Fish.
Friday afternoon, the day was lovely.  We were mighty thirsty from all the swimming we were doing.

There's a nice vibe in there.  The light inside the building is beautiful.  The beer was good too, real good.

The kid's chalkboard, down nice 'n low:

It was packed, I didn't photograph any of the people, but it was packed.  And everybody in there was happy.  Its good to see a new business doing so well.  I'll be back soon...

Tapping Into The Flow For A Brief MicroMinute.

watercolour by tereSager
This is no masterpiece, however, I am thrilled that it is loose.  Waaay looser than I've been able to let lately.  Yes, thrilled with the looseness.  I tapped into the looseness and went with it and it felt great.  I felt it when it hit, like a fun shockwave.  That's how artmaking works for me.  I'll be painting along minding my own business and then whammy, something takes, and I'll tap into the flow and boy is it ever nice.  Does anybody know where the switch is?  If you do, could you please tell me immediately so I can flip it every single second of every single minute of every single day.
In progress.
In progress.
In progress.
This is what started it all.

After a hard evening of pure bliss in the studio, I went out to find my ponies and give them an oat.  If you squint extra hard, you can see two horses looking at me asking, "does she have an oat"?  I swear they're there.
"Yes, I believe she DOES have an oat"...
"I'm in."
Now they're both positively excited about the prospect of that oat.
Feedin' time, yay!

I took an online class last summer, SketchBook Skool.  It. Was. Fabulous.  I sketched Spiral, the big yellow guy in the front.  He is quite a looker.  He has a lot of spunk though, and has trouble standing in the exact same pose for any length of time.  Yes, sketching Spiral is tricky.

Book Cover Paintings.

My tunnel fascinated me Friday.  Yes, I'm easily fascinated.  I just liked the way the light was hitting in the hole.

Later the July Blue Moon rose over the General Store right downtown.  Things were really happening then yes sir-ree Bob.   If you squint your eyes really really hard you can see the moon up and to the right of the red pop machine.  See it, its there.
Yes, things were going on everywhere downtown.  That window got washed.  Friday night action under the moon, yeehah........obviously I needed to make my own action:
Painting on bookcovers was my action of choice.  I love painting on bookcovers.  I love the distress of the edges.  I love the different textures.  The size is often good too.  I really love that they're more-often-than-not free, or next-to-nothing.  Does this make me a cheapskate?
This was a Little Golden Book and that takes me right back in time and I get that warm cozy feeling like everything's going to be all right.
