Every Day is a Fresh Start.

Attempting to watercolour.

Its proving tricky.

It took a long, long time, but here it is.  Tah Dah!

I went to the bar yesterday.  We had a Drink 'N Draw.  It turned out that there was only 2 of us, and only one of us drew. (We both drank).  That's where I started the above masterpiece.
Isn't this a pretty bar?  Not one bit dank, like some bars.  Its light and airy and fresh and clean and all the happy people gather here.  Only the happy are permitted.

This is my new Morning Bev.  Dr. Berg told me this recipe and then I married him because I love him.  Actually, his recipe was slightly different, he uses cranberry instead of Tart Cherry.  I don't care, there will be no divorce over this.

I used to drink plain Braggs ACV.  I like Dr. Berg's version better.

I need a vital Morning Bev because this is what I've been dealing with for the past week:
I'm moving my art room and this is the "during" phase.

Here's the "before" phase.  Its come a long way, but there's still a long way to go. I haven't made it cute yet.  Soon.  Very soon...

Its a nice room but it was kind of a mess at first.  Ok, it was a complete and total mess.  And its hot since its August and all, so I'm a little crabby and stinky.  But soon, very soon, this room will be cute.

Thank Goodness there's a kitten to keep things in perspective.  All I have to do is take a quick glance at her and she shows me the way to what's truly important.

She seems to be transfixed on keyboards and screens.  Perhaps she'll be a computer programmer when she grows up.

Whatever she decides to be, I will fully support her.

Our Own Personal Rio 2016.

It all happens here in the Arena.

The Athletes are entering the Stadium.

Let the Games begin.

Time Out for meditation

I realize that this is the silliest post ever, but what's even sillier is that I watched it for well over an hour first thing this morning.  Poor Willie got kicked out immediately.  He didn't stand a chance against the tiny athlete from Shade, weighing in at roughly 1/3 ounce.  She's a real go-getter.

Round Two?

Kitten Update.

Remember these guys?  I thought you needed an update.  There's three of them, its difficult to tell from the photo.  The guy in the middle is doing the splits.  I called him "Tremor" because of his unfortunate condition...he shook.  He had a problem.  And he meowed way too much, especially for a helpless little teenie tiny kitten living outside in a barn in the wilderness.  I was concerned.

Well, apparently he packed his knapsack and went to join a circus because all of the sudden he was gone.  For several days.  Then my son saw him on SnapChat and I am not even making this up.  So he found out the story.  These SnapChat Friends had found him on the road.  (This barn is not particularly close to the road).  Somehow, little Tremor had ended up on the road and these good people-who lifeguard at the very same Aquatic Center that my son lifeguards at, small world-took him home to live with them.  I asked him about little Tremor this morning and he said he doesn't shake anymore and that this rescue tribe consists of "good people".  Best of luck little Tremor.  I never even got to say goodbye.

The chubby dark kitten on the left, he got adopted to Julia and her boyfriend. This kitten had the most laid-back sweet disposition so I think they got a real good one.  They seemed like an adorable couple and she immediately asked when his birthday was (3-25-16) which meant she passed "the test" with flying colors because she cared enough to start party planning immediately.

Somehow the little gray striped number on the right is living in my home with Willie Boots Blues Cat, who seems smitten.  I don't know how this even happened but its kind of like she now owns the place and we just live here.

Maybe FurMomi will go in the trap sometime so I can take her to the gynecologist and get her tubes tied.

Wax On Watercolour.

Here's what it looks like now that the wax has been added.

They both got some grunge added as well, this one more.

So which version wins, wax or no-wax?  (see previous post for the no-wax versions)

So I was watching Y&R, trying to beat the heat yesterday and I had to hit pause because they were at "the Club" and the colour scheme was so fabulous.  I just stared at it in appreciation.  So so pretty.  There was a lot of very reddish wood on the bar at the Club.  And many lime green plants and flowers.  Then there was that Mustard perfection on the fabrics. And.  And.  And, the people were all wearing Navy.  The finishing touch was Jack Abbot's tie, it was Lavender.  The whole set was spot on.
Somebody's sure doing their job at Y&R.  I think I watched the show on pause for a long time, luxuriating in their fine colour choices.

Works In Progress.

Watercolour .  Soon, wax...

These are small watercolours on 5x7 panels.  I have an idea...I'm going to put encaustic medium over top.  The panels were prepped first with encaustic gesso, my new favorite thing.  Then came the watercolour.  Then came ink doodles and borders and words.

The plan is to put the clear medium on, then "texturize it" with charcoal or oil paint then another very thin coat then I get to "buff it with pantyhose in the morning."  Which, as we all know, makes me giddy with glee positively giddy. Yes, not a grammatically-correct sentence.  And again.

Here's the second one, why paint one when you can paint two?

I have appointments all afternoon so the wax won't happen until tomorrow.  I'm so excited to do this I almost can't wait.  What this really means is that I have to wax them tomorrow, put them in the coldest part of the beer fridge tomorrow night, then in two long days I can buff with pantyhose in the morning hallaluyah!

Meanwhile, this has been happening...

Look close, Willie and Thumper are up the tall tall tall walnut tree scampering along that branch like it's nothin'.  My baby is all growed up.

Remember when he was a baby and got stuck up there and we almost had to call the firemen but luckily he heard the crinkle of the Temptations bag and finally came down.  It was quite emotional.

Well, no more.

Another "Work In Progress", this kid.  She watched him closely.  She's at such an impressionable age, I hope she has more sense.
