Treasures Galore at Starbrick Gallery.

This gallery is a gem.  Constantly evolving, there is a new show every single month.  Show openings are on the "Final Friday" of each month.  This month's exhibition is a group showing of fiber arts. Today was my day to work the desk so I took some pictures to show you lovely people some of what's available.

Over the River and Through the Woods...

This is that magical place that the song was written for.  That big pampered (aka lazy) Peppermint Eater (I'm sure that is his racehorse name in his other life) needs a sleigh so we can ride it through here every time it snows.  This tunnel goes on for quite a ways, long enough to feel like you're in the woods instead of on an actual road.  In this Dream Sleigh I have luscious fur throws( faux or real doesn't matter because they lie to us about which is which anyway), and brass bells, and a flask tucked in there somewhere, oh and probably a gps.  And the big pony is decorated with beads and braids and tassels.  We are singing-of ALL things--"you're so vain" at the top of our lungs.  Oh, and we are wearing those real long pointed colorful stocking caps and the big lazy pony is trotting so fast that they are flying behind us. He is singing too while he trots to the beat.  There are at least 40 of us in the sleigh, its sort of like a pontoon boat party at this point of the fantasy.  Bikinis.  Sunshine.  Songs.
This is one of the twins.  He was eating some of the bird's sunflower seeds first thing this morning.  We made eye contact but he didn't care, he was hungry.
My dream snow melted a bit, not good for the Fantasy Sleigh.
This was a pretty pretty pretty good snowstorm (say this like Larry would) and every time the electricity flickered we all said a prayer.
The tunnel in all its winter finery.  This way to grandma's house.
Every single branch had snow on it.  Even the tiniest ones.
I never get tired of the tunnel.
First light.
Today all this snow is falling in mini avalanches and hitting us all in the heads.
This is the way to the secret hideout.
Power lines please stay up there.
Once the sun came out after the snowing stopped, it was pretty prett, ok I'll stop being Larry, but it was a good-lookin' blue.
Rural.
No traffic today.

Acme Slingshot Mode.

At least that's what my Brother calls it.  That's when you put your car in 4 wheel low.  He claims it will simply " catapult you right out of the culvert."  He was explaining all this to me over the phone whilst I was stuck sideways on the Luge.  I eventually got unstuck.  We had a good good snowstorm last night and everything is white today, so pretty.
This is the Luge.

First light, the view out the front door.

The Shade Tunnel.
This nice teenager shoveled me to my Jeep.  And there was no teen angst whatsoever.  It took him mere minutes.
Then he went and played in the hammock.
This is how you do it when you're a teen.
Snow everywhere.  So pretty.
Almost a foot in the side yard.  I was feeling kind of bummed out for not making any art today, I couldn't stop taking pictures.  Well, duh, that counts.  Ok I feel better now.

Sprout Farming and a Treat Mouse.

I can't believe I haven't been a sprout farmer since day one.  I'm just now figuring out that its the best thing on the planet.  All you do is put 2 Tbsp of Sprouting Seeds in a Mason Jar and cover them with water to soak for 4 to 8 hours.  Put cheesecloth over the top so you're able to empty the jar and rinse the seeds twice a day.  Easy as pie.

Sprout Seeds Soaking.
Eating right is hard enough, it needs to be fun.  And sprout farming is fun.  Ok so I'm realizing here that maybe I don't have a life after all.  The fact that its this thrilling to me watching seeds sprout is either pathetic or splendid.  And then once they sprout and go in the fridge, I can't bear to see them go to waste so I eat tons of them.  And that's a good thing, right?  Trickery, in a good way.

And speaking of fun, this contraption is quality entertainment.  More to come on that...

the Daily Square.

For several years now, I've been keeping a Journal of My Days, a 2-page spread with rough squares.  I write a few sentences to remind me of what was important about that day.  Sometimes I get lazy or busy or stupid and it all goes to pot-or so I think.  But when I go back to review later, it is always Priceless.  Sometimes too many days will go by where it will slip by me and I'll have to think.  "What happened that day???"  Its always best if I write in it when its fresh in my mind.  And it only has to make sense to me.  Rereading it takes me right back in time.  I can relive it, and its sort of precious.  And it gets more precious as time goes by, as I'm finding out since I started January 1, 2012.  Not all that long, but if its this precious to me now, imagine how I'll feel rereading it when I'm 100 years old!

Serene Sun journal page, by tereSager.
This is the Feb 2015 spread.  I  can't even believe I'm actually sharing this, but to be honest, its mostly all about the weather.  I promise I'm not always that boring and I do have a life.  But somehow with all the cold weather griping, I felt this page spread didn't bare my soul to the entire world.  It talks about super important things too, like my Lifeguarding Teenager who saved a little girl this month at the aquatic center.  My Hero!  His girlfriend asked him if he got a plaque and he says, no, I got an 'incident report'.  Still, I'm sure the entire incident happened in sloMo and was very heroic with the Theme from Rocky playing in the background.  Sorry, you might not even be able to see that part on the page and I should have given it much more space.  That's the thing, I reread and have to look for the gems and when I find one its such a reward.  Imagine rereading that when I'm a hundred and have forgotten everything.

This is the cover of the Journal I use.  It was from the sale room at Anthropologie.  My favorite place on Planet Earth btw.
My point is, I've been doing this now for going-on 4 years and I'm beginning to see how much it means to me.  I want to inspire YOU, dear Reader, to do this too.  Its so worthy.
